Rev. James E. Walker (retired), 92, of Granite City, Ill., born Oct. 26, 1920, in Paragould, Ark., died at 11:44 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Stearns Nursing and Rehab, Granite City, Ill.
After graduating from McKendree University with a theology degree, Rev. James E. Walker, was a servant to the Lord, he was a pastor for over 70 years. After retiring he belonged to the South Roxana Nazarene Church. Mr. Walker was U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II, CBI Theater. He was a very accomplished musician, writing music and playing the piano, organ and harmonica. In 1968, James ran for Illinois State Representative against Senator Paul Simon.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce E., nee Brooks, Walker; second wife, Mildred V., nee Hunsicker, Walker; a daughter, Linda J. Nix; parents, Clarence E. and Ann, nee Jackson, Walker; a sister, Edna Earlene Bruce; and two brothers, Thomas C. Walker and William Woodrow Walker.
Surviving are his daughters, Cynthia McClure of Granite City, Ill., and Cheryl (Russell) Wilson of Granite City, Ill.; son, James P. Walker of Florissant, Mo.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at the funeral home with Rev. Doug Krassow officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Ill.
