Jane Sheets, 81, of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away on August 29, 2021, at her home.
She was born February 15, 1940, to Burl and Minnie (Parmley) Jackson in East St. Louis,
Illinois.
Jane was very kind and dedicated to spreading that kindness to others, especially her
family and her pets, whom she cared for deeply. She was passionate about nature and all
of the precious wildlife that reside in it. She was especially fond of wild birds and was
happiest outdoors. She had a heart for dogs, participating in the rescue, fostering and
rehoming of many lucky animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George William "Bill" Sheets; as
well as several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters: Jeanette Kusmitch and husband Steve of Wentzville,
Missouri and Kim Schaefer and husband Wayne of Pacific, Missouri; grandchildren:
Stephen, Allison, Madeleine, and Anne; great-grandchild, Heidi; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00
a.m. at Herr Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Collinsville, Illinois. Memorial service
will take place at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Habermehl officiating.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family asks that memorial donations be made to
the Metro East Humane Society, 8495 State Route 143, Edwardsville, Illinois, 62040.
