IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jane Ellen
Webb
June 12, 1950 – November 29, 2023
Jane Ellen Webb, 73, was born on June 12, 1950 in St. Louis, MO to Verna Lucille (Hans) Webb and Joseph Long Webb. She passed away Nov. 29, 2023 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden, IL where she had resided for almost five years.
Jane grew up on the grounds of Cahokia Mounds Historic Site, as her father was Site Superintendent there for 25 years. Jane graduated from Collinsville High School in 1968 and worked as an assistant teacher in several area pre-schools. She loved being with children and although she never married or had children of her own, she was a favorite babysitter to many families.
She was a lifelong member of the St. John United Church of Christ and a member of the Evening Circle women's group. For several years, Jane managed and volunteered at the nursery program for young children while their parents attended church services. The church was a big part of her life and she especially enjoyed listening to recordings of the Sunday service that were sent to her when she could no longer attend. Thank you to the church friends who never forgot Jane through the years.
Jane struggled all of her life to overcome limitations from a brain tumor at the age of five. Her health declined over the years and in 1999, she moved to a Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) home in Highland, IL. She was always determined to live as close to Collinsville as possible, as her love of Collinsville and it's people never diminished.
Jane had a difficult life, but when faced with a medical problem, which were numerous, she would take it in stride and fight through it. Her longevity is a testament to the committed people of Community Link in Breese, IL who managed the Highland CILA and the excellent staff of Clinton Manor in New Baden. Thank you for years of dedication to Jane's health and well being.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Janet (Webb) and Robert Jacob, nephew Christopher (Lindsy) Jacob and niece Carrie (Jason) McCormick all of California.
Also left to cherish Jane's memory are Bob and Carolyn Dow, of Collinsville, devoted friends for over 50 years.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at St. John Cemetery, 105 National Terrace, Collinsville, Illinois 62234.
