JANET M. FAIFER of Collinsville, Illinois

Obituary
Janet M. Faifer, born May 13, 1946 in East St. Louis, Illinois, passed away on November 4, 2024 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon, Illinois. She was 78 Years old.
Janet was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Parish in Collinsville, Illinois. Janet was an executive secretary at Ralston Purina Corporation in St. Louis, MO for many years. She enjoyed traveling with friends as a younger woman and helping her mother in the kitchen where she learned Italian cooking from one of the best. She married her husband, Stephen M. (Michael) Faifer, on November 2, 1974, and they had one child, Jennifer Marie Faifer who was born on June 25, 1977. Janet's husband and daughter were her whole world and she loved them very much. Jennifer's friends frequented Janet's home and she considered Jennifer's friends her friends, too. Janet enjoyed spending time with her parents prior to their deaths and with her brother, John B. Barberis, Sr. and his family. The families would always spend holiday's together at one of their homes and enjoyed frequent get togethers celebrating birthdays or other events.
After Michael passed away on April 16, 2011, Janet and Jennifer became nearly inseparable. Jennifer's death from a stroke on August 16, 2017 at the young age of 40, was devastating to Janet. Never a day passed that Janet did not think of her daughter and mourn her untimely death. Janet's resilience, faith, friends and family helped her get through the next several years. She was always grateful for long talks and visits with her sister-in-law, Virginia Barberis, as well as for visits from her nephews and their children. Janet's neighbors also had a place in her heart, especially, her long-time next-door neighbor, Betty Wrigley, as well as her friend Sharon Witcher who helped Janet in so many ways after Jennifer's death. Janet will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Janet was preceded in death by her parent's John D. and Jennie M. (nee Forneris) Barberis: her husband, Stephen Michael Faifer, her beloved daughter, Jennifer M. Faifer; her brother John B. Barberis, Sr.; and her father and mother-in-law, Gus and Josephine Faifer.
She is survived by her sister-in-Law, Viginia (nee Knapp) Barberis of Maryville, IL, and her nephews, John (Laura) Barberis of St. Jacob, IL; Jim (Denise) Barberis of Utica, KY; Joe (Nikki) Barberis of Rensselaer, IN, and their families.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 9370 Olive Blvd, Saint Louis, MO 63132 or American Heart Association or American Stroke Association P.O. Box 840692, Dallas Tx, 75284-0692.
