Jeffery Dean Mifflin, 57, of Granite City, Illinois, a Marine that went on to his new deployment October 21, 2021, with his family by his side.
Jeff was born January 1, 1964, in East St. Louis, Illinois, to Joe Ray and Norma Jean (Von Schmittou) Mifflin. He married the love of his life, Saundra "Sandy" Coryell on August 14, 1982, and shared 39 years of marriage and 46 years together. He was a member of Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church and of United Steelworkers Local 1899.
Jeff served his country in the United States Marines for ten years and was very proud of his service. In order of importance, he loved God, Family and Country. His beliefs were important, and he lived his life by them. Jeff loved going to church and being with people. He was a man of his word, was always there for anyone who needed help, He loved spending time with his family, especially for weekly game nights on Fridays. He was an excellent woodworker and did stained glass as well. His hobby of collecting hot wheels was even more enjoyable because he shared It with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Ray Mifflin; stepdad, Wilson Rudd; and grandparents.
Survivors include his wife, Saundra "Sandy" Mifflin of Granite City, Illinois; mother, Norma Jean Rudd of Granite City, Illinois, children: Jeremy Mifflin of Granite City, Illinois, Brandan (Elizabeth) Mifflin of Granite City, Illinois, Lane Erin Mifflin of Granite City, Illinois, and Aron (Whitney) Mifflin; grandchildren: Lynnette, Noel, Zelda, Layton, Holly and Nora; brothers: Doyle Mifflin of Granite City, Illinois, and Steve (Kathy) Mifflin of Missouri; sisters: Vickie Nance of Georgia, and Patty Mifflin of Granite City, Illinois; adopted by choice, brother, Raymond Stewart of Granite City, Illinois; sisters: Gwen Fuller of Granite City, Illinois, Tonya Stewart of Granite City, Illinois, and Shannon Reynolds of Florida; mother and father-in law, Bobby and Carylon Coryell of Granite City, Illinois; loving uncle to: Josh Coryell and Amber Patrick as well as other special nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Bethel Chapel Pentecostal Church,2445 Ohio Ave, Granite City, Illinois. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at the church with Brother David Brimm officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery under the direction of Sunset Hill Funeral Home with military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Chapel Christian School.
