Jesse Wayne Johnson, 61, of Caseyville, IL passed away on October 9, 2023. He was born to J.W. and Betty (Hulan) Johnson on February 20, 1962, in Galesburg, IL.

Jesse was an avid outdoorsman and loved going fishing. He enjoyed being a member of Moose Lodge #1221 in Swansea, IL. He was a general contractor for construction. He also proudly served as Police Commissioner for the Caseyville Police Department. Jesse married the love of his life Penny, on January 5, 1988, and they enjoyed many years together.

Those left to cherish Jesse's memory are his loving wife, Penny (nee Darnell) Johnson; father J.W. Johnson; siblings, Jim (Karen) Johnson, Melody (Kenneth) Williams and Gayla (Bruce) Williams; beloved cousins, Angie Derosier, Kurt Hollerbach, Emily Derosier and Josh Derosier; special friends, Pete Sharpstein, Tasha Vance, Ron and Darlene Sicka and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Johnson and brother, Donnie Johnson.

Services will be held at Herr Funeral Home 501 W. Main St. Collinsville, IL with visitation on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM and the funeral service on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Valhalla Gardens Cemetery 3412 Frank Scott Pkwy West, Belleville, IL 62223. Jesse will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
