Jimmie D. Cooley, 88, of Collinsville, Ill., born September, 6, 1923, in Oran, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, in Collinsville, Ill.



Jimmie was a World War II army veteran, where he served as a field medic. He retired from Cierro Copper in Sauget, Ill., as a millwright after 34 years.



He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Tennesse, nee Lofton, Cooley; a daughter, JoAnn Decker; a son, Jimmie D. Cooley Jr.; and two sisters, Annie Dunn and Hattie Myers.



He is survived by his wife, Ethel Cooley of Collinsville, Ill.; three daughters, Nancy (Shaun) Bennett of Snohomish, Wa., Wendy (Glen) Ashabranner of Manchester, Mo., and Betty Doss of Lakeland, Fla.; two brothers, James Cooley of St. Clair, Mo., and Robert (Mary) Cooley of Doniphan, Mo.; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., with the Rev. Ron Habermehl officiating. Burial will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
