Jimmy Leon Pace, 71, of Auburn, Illinois, passed away at his home on November 27,
2021.
Jimmy was born January 27, 1950, in Murray, Kentucky, to Elbert Leon and Evelyn M.
(Stack) Pace. He married Cheryl Raynor on January 3, 1972; they shared 49 years of
marriage.
He served his country in the United States Army for over 20 years, including 3 tours of
Vietnam. He was awarded many medals which included: , 2 Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, Army commendation medal with combat distinguishing devise "V" Army Achievement Medal (2nd award), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th award), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (2nd award) National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross.
Jimmy was a Mason, and also a member of the American Legion in Clarksville,
Tennessee. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially going to auctions in search of
collector items. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Patrick Pace; and brothers: Willie Pace,
Terry Pace, Roger Pace, and Bobby Pace.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Pace of Auburn, Illinois; sons: James Scott (Meghan)
Pace of Auburn, Illinois, and Douglas Lee (Vicki) of Highland, Illinois; brothers: Billy
(Lynn) Pace of Highland, Illinois, Marty Pace, Kentucky, Larry (Lynda) Pace, Kentucky,
and Rex (Patricia) Pace of Kentucky; grandchildren: Morgan Pace, Cameron Pace,
Alyson Pace, Hali (Logan) Miller, Alexander Pace, Ethan Pace, Katherine Pace, Jack
Pace, Madison Diamond, and Tyler Diamond; great grandchildren: Emilia Miller and
Eliza Pace; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00
p.m. at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, Illinois. Funeral
service will take place at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Habermehl officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
