Joan Arth

Joan Arth, 94, a lifetime resident of Collinsville, Illinois, died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Sherbrooke Village in St. Louis.

Joan was born in Collinsville on May 2, 1923, the seventh child of the late Albert and Anna, nee McMullen, Bernasco. On June 28, 1946, she married Oliver (Bud) Arth at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville. In addition to raising their two daughters, she enjoyed a late career as a St. Louis metro tour guide for Vandalia Bus Lines. She served her church and civic communities in numerous organizations and roles. In particular, she recorded over 1600 volunteer hours at Cardinal Glennon Children''s Hospital. In later years, she especially enjoyed her volunteer work at the Collinsville Food Pantry.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her six sisters (Alice, Marguerite, Mary, Eileen, Louise and Therese) and her brothers (Carl and Bob).

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jane (Robert) Dearworth of Cabot, Arkansas, and Laura (Kevin) Shoemake of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jeff Dearworth, Sarah (Dearworth) Pack, Jacob Shoemake and Olivia Shoemake; eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Capital Campaign or to the Collinsville Food Pantry and can be received at Herr Funeral Home or at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church prior to the service. Condolences to the family can be expressed through this online guestbook.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Collinsville, Ill., with Father James Voelker (her nephew) and Father John Beveridge officiating. Burial will be at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
