Farnworth

Joan Marie Farnworth (Wesolik), 88, died Sunday, September 21st 2025 of heart failure after a brief stay at Anderson Hospital in Maryville IL. Joan was born on September 8th, 1937 in Belleville IL to Frank Wesolik and Ruth Inetha Wesolik (Werner). Joan was one of five children born to Frank and Ruth. Joan had an older brother, James Wesolik, and three younger siblings, brothers Lester Wesolik and Larry Wesolik along with sister Sandra Lee Thurmond (Wesolik).
Except for a few months during WW2, when Frank and Ruth moved the family to California to help a relative, Joan lived most of her younger years in Belleville Il, where her father was employed at Empire Stove Company. Joan was a 1955 graduate of Belleville Township High School. As a young woman, she worked in the office of a large bank in St. Louis Missouri. In 1963, Joan married Bradley A. Farnworth of Collinsville Il. Joan and Brad raised sons Kenneth Mark Farnworth, Ray George Farnworth and daughter Eva Marie Minarovic (Farnworth).
Joan was ever present at her husband's side, assisting him in the operation of Van Dean's Sundries while maintaining an immaculately clean home where she loved spending time creating desserts and confections. Joan, a devout Catholic, was also active and involved at St Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville where she was a longtime member of the choir and divine mercy group.
Joan was preceded in death by her father, Frank Wesolik, her mother, Ruth Wesolik, her brothers, James Wesolik and Lester Wesolik, her sister Sandra Lee Thurmond, her husband Bradley Farnworth, and her son Kenneth Mark Farnworth. She is survived by her son Ray Farnworth, daughter Eva Minarovic, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan loved to sing and while music was a passion her family and her God were an even bigger passion.
Visitation for Joan Farnworth is scheduled to be on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 at St Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville from 9:30 am until 11:00 am with the Funeral Mass to follow. Burial will occur following the funeral mass at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery in Belleville IL.
