John C. Baumgartner, 78 of Collinsville, IL passed away at his home on April 2 with his family by his side. He was born is Breese, IL on October 30, 1935.
John grew up in Greenville, IL. After high school graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. He then attended Bailey Technical School in St. Louis and was then employed by Burroughs Corp. and Unisys Corp. as a field engineer working on mainframe computers in the banking field from the 1960''s to the 1990''s. He was instrumental in making sure your checks were processed.
John was a member of the Glen Carbon Senior Group, Collinsville Historical Museum, and the First United Presbyterian Church in Collinsville.
John married Mary Lee Bass on October 5, 1955. They were married for 58 years. John will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna, nee Lunitz, and John I. Baumgartner; and sisters Bernadine Lauer and Marcelline Huber.
Surviving are his loving wife Mary Lee Baumgartner; three sons Michael (Angela) of Panama City, FL., Retired ADM William of Miami, FL., Steven of Alpharetta, GA., and a daughter Becky (Ron) Zimmer of Millstadt, IL.; five grandchildren; and sisters Dorothy Leidel of Greenville, IL, and Mary Ann Jurgena of Greenville, IL.

Visitation: Friends and family may call from 10 AM to 12 PM Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the First United Presbyterian Church, Collinsville, IL. (Route 159 and Church Street). Church service will be held in John''s honor at 12 noon.
