John E. Adams, 84, of Granite City, Ill., born Feb. 28, 1928, in Corning Ark., died at 5:51 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Adams was a former manager of the paint department on the Corvette line at the Fischer Body Plant in St. Louis, Mo. He was a member of the Masonic order in Hillsboro, Mo.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Erma, nee Patterson, Adams, whom he married on Jan. 5, 1946; a son, Johnny Adams; parents, John and Thelma, nee Grubbs, Adams; a son-in-law, James Sutphin; three brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his daughters, Linda Sutphin of Granite City, Ill., Carolyn Sander of Wood River, Ill., Joyce (Dennis) Wickham of Mitchell, Ill., Cathy Adams of Mitchell, Ill., and Sandy (William) Higgins of Mitchell, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
