John W. Heil, 58, of Belleville, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. He was born on March 6, 1962, in Belleville, Illinois to Jerald and Ruth (Marquis) Heil. He attended Belleville West High School. He joined the Navy in 1978 and served for 3 years.

After his military service, he resided in Belleville for the remainder of his life. John was a hard worker and a very generous friend. Among his favorite jobs through the years were his lawn service and his very large paper route for the BND. He always added an extra special touch to his finished work.

John enjoyed music more than anything and was recognized as an exceptional drummer and guitar player. John made many great memories playing music with his dad, Jerald, and his brothers, Gary and Dale.

He also loved his pets (several dogs and cats through the years) and was a big Cardinals baseball fan.

Throughout John's illness the past 3 years he reaffirmed his faith in God and enjoyed many times praying with his family and talking about his faith in Jesus.

John was preceded in death by his father, Jerald Heil, and his brother Gary Heil.

He is survived by his mother, Ruth(Marquis)Heil of Freeburg, Illinois; his brother Dale Heil of Belleville, Illinois; his sister Kathy(Curt)Caswell of Columbia, Illinois; his brother Mark(Marla) Heil of Bloomington, Illinois; his sister Julie(Daryle) Barnett of Dickinson, Texas; and several cousins, nieces, nephews.

Visitation will be from 12 pm to 1 pm on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, with a short memorial service at 1 pm at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Illinois.
