John R. Provence, 66, of Maryville, Illinois, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021.

He was the second of five children born to Jack and Georgia Provence. He grew up in Glen Carbon and graduated Edwardsville Senior High School in 1974. Most recently, John retired from work as a driver with Madison County Transit.

John is survived by: His other half Linda Pomerantz, his daughters, Stephanie Provence (Tom Vredenburgh) and Jaclyn Provence (Mark Davidson); and two bonus children Matthew (Lyndsy) Pomerantz and Danielle Pomerantz as well as his grandchildren Aaron and Scarlett Vredenburgh and Georgia Davidson, Roman and Jayzynn Pomerantz and Slade Pomerantz; three siblings, Brenda Provence, Alice Wilson, Paul Provence, sister-in-law Maurie Provence; as well as many members of his extended family.

He is preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Myron Provence, sister-in-law Jo Provence, and bonus son Jason Pomerantz.

A private celebration of life will be held by the close family. Monetary donations, in lieu of flowers, should be sent in remembrance of John to First Baptist Church Maryville.
