John J. Slesinski, 84, of Collinsville, Ill., born Wednesday, April 8, 1931, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015, at the VA Medical Center, St. Louis, Mo.
John retired as a salesman from L.J. Ross Lumber Company. He was a member of Copper Creek Christian Church of Maryville, Ill. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He truly enjoyed remodeling and fishing. John was a member and a 1950 graduate of Collinsville High School, and he enjoyed meeting with some of his classmates every month at the Collinsville Senior Center.
John was preceded by his first wife, Joan, nee Killinger, Slesinski; his parents, John and Mary, nee Zarzecki, Slesinski; his sister and brother-in-law, Dolores (Francis) Loyet; and a brother, Bill Slesinski; and a son-in-law, Don Petty.
Surviving are his wife, Jean nee Proffer, Norwine Slesinski, whom he married June 13, 1998; two daughters, Jackie Petty of Collinsville, Ill., and Judy (David) Koebel of Kokomo, Ind.; his grandchildren, Jason (Allyson) Slesinski, Jeff Petty, Dawn (Bill) Kee and Daniele Petty; a great- granddaughter, Joslyn Slesinski; a sister-in-law, Jane Slesinski of Hollywood Heights, Ill.; a step-son, Jerry Norwine of Collinsville, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
