Obituary

COLLINSVILLE- John C. Vandenberg, 85, of Collinsville,IL. passed away on Monday, July 3, 2017 at his residence.
John was born January 1, 1932 in Plainview, TX to Henry and Edna. He married Brenda Herring on May 25, 1984 in Lubbock, TX. She survives and resides in Collinsville.
Also surviving are his children, Terry (Cindy) Vandenberg of Hickory Creek, TX., David (Sheri Taylor) Vandenberg of Ruidoso, NM, and Chandler Vandenberg of Edwardsville, Il., Kirk (Linda) Vandenberg of Forrest, VA; six grandchildren, Jessica, Zackary, Davea, Dallas, Julianna, Hunter; and two great-grandchildren, Jadelyn and Zoe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his aunt, Edith Holloway.
John was an Army veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean War.
John worked as an electric engineer and was proud of his time spent working at Texas Instruments in Lubbock, TX. He was involved with the Boy Scouts Explorer Post 806 in Texas. John was an active member of Westmont Christian Church in Lubbock, TX., and Rochester Christian Church when he and Brenda were living in Rochester, Ill.

VISITATION: A memorial visitation for John will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 1:00 P.M.- 3:00 P.M. at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, Ill. 62034.
FUNERAL: A memorial service will be held following the visitation, at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home in Glen Carbon. Pastor Jack Swank will officiate.
