IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joreen L.
Burris
May 13, 1947 – February 4, 2026
Joreen L. Burris, 78, of Granite City, IL, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026. Joreen was born on May 13, 1947, in East St. Louis, IL, to parents, Donald and Joanna Tamburello, nee Cunningham.
She could best be described as someone who was outgoing and just as friendly as could be - which meant she had friends from various walks of life. She was an incredibly devoted wife - having been married to her beloved husband, Harold Burris, Sr., for 27 years until his passing in 2020. She loved being a mother and spending time with her family - she was always up for hosting barbeques and playing card/dice games. She was an active member of The Clark Ave Church of Christ in Granite City, IL - where she taught bible study at Sunday school. She was also a proud member of the Association of Rebekah Assembly (Daughters of Rebekah). She spent ten years as an EKG Technician at Barnes Jewish Hospital and had about just as long of a career working for Walmart. She loved to cook and bake - her children will miss her Italian dishes and desserts. She loved designing children's cakes - creating all sorts of shapes and designs, including cakes shaped like trains. She incorporated her love for Italian food by once creating a cake that looked like spaghetti. She was a talented artist in every respect. Those who knew her will miss seeing her creativity.
Preceding Joreen in death are her parents, Donald and Joanna Tamburello; husband, Harold Burris, Sr.; son, Darin Yureck; and stepdaughter, Jennifer Woodward. Surviving Joreen are her sons, Alan Yureck, Michael Yureck, John (Tammy) Yureck; stepson, Harold Burris, Jr.; eight grandchildren; and her sister, Donna Tamburello.
There are no services planned at this time, but at a later date a celebration of life may be held.
The family is being served by HERR Funeral Home, 501 W. Main Street, Collinsville, IL, 62234.
