Joyce JoAnn Sykes nee McClanahand, 69, of Benld, Ill., born Nov. 12, 1946, passed away Tuesday March 8, 2016, at her home.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed ceramics. She was a CNA for many years working in various nursing homes and still working for 16 years at the St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Myrtle, nee Parson McClanahand; a sister, Junie May Baker; and three children, David Blanton, Melissa Marie Jane, and Jesse Durrell Sykes.

Surviving are her husband, William Sykes Sr. whom she married June 1, 1963, in Granite City, Ill.; four sons, William "Bill" (Darla) Sykes, Jr. of Walshville, Ill., Roger Sykes of Springfield, Ill., Jason (Susan) Sykes of Collinsville, Ill., and Phil Sykes of Benld, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Connor of Fredericktown, Mo., and Dolores Levy of St. Genevieve, Mo.; three brothers, Terry McClanahand of Perryville, Mo., Jerry McClanahand of Fredericktown, Mo., and Jimmy McClanahand of Jacksonville, Mo.; four grandchildren, Eric, Bridget, Matthew and Austin and two great-grandchildren, Noah and Haven.

Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, Ill., or to American Cancer Society .

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Dr., Glen Carbon, Ill.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday March 11, 2016, at the funeral home, with Rev Rudy Elam officiating. Interment will be at the Sunset Hill Cemetery following the services.
