Obituary

Juanita M. Douglas, 97, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away with her family by her side on February 9, 2022 at Cedarhurst Senior Living.
"Nita" was born February 1, 1925 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Lary and Ruth (Dennis) Hutchison. She married Arthur Bruce "Doc" Douglas on May 31, 1944 in Mount Vernon, Illinois; they shared 68 years together before he passed away. Throughout her marriage with Doc, they enjoyed traveling together to places near and far and became avid students of the stock market throughout several decades of study and debate with their beloved investment club.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville, Illinois where she taught 2 and 3 year old's Sunday school class for 30 years.  Nita loved to sew and was a wonderful seamstress.
The real significance of Juanita's life on this earth was defined by her personal faith in Jesus Christ and how her faith was interwoven through her relationships with family, friends and those she served.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur Bruce "Doc" Douglas, and brother Claude Hutchison, as well as a niece and a nephew.
Survivors include her daughters:  Lynn Schwander (husband James) of Collinsville, Illinois, Shelley Noble (husband Dennis) of Denver, Colorado, and Peggy Hirt (husband John) of LaGrange, Illinois; her brother Wayne Hutchison (wife Louise) of Marion, Illinois; her sister-in-law Zola Hutchison of Mount Vernon, Illinois; 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 nephews and 1 niece.
