Kathryn Ann Lenz

Kathryn "Kathy" Ann Lenz, 76, of Granite City, IL., born February 12, 1942, in La Grange, IL., passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Alton, IL.

If anything could be said for Kathy, it's that she was an honest woman who held herself to a high standard of integrity.  She simply looked for the best in others and gave the best she had.  Kathy loved children, she was a dedicated first grade teacher for 35 years at Niedringhaus Elementary School, Granite City, IL.  She was selfless and generous, loved spending time with her family and helping with college tuitions, summer camps and countless other activities.  She will fondly be remembered as the "Family Weatherman" always making sure her family was safe.  Kathy never forgot a birthday and continued to stay in contact through Facebook looking at all the photos of family and friends.  She was the second mother to all her nieces and nephews.

Kathy Lenz lived a full life: she saw much, lived well and loved with a vigor that will last forever in the hearts of her family and friends.  She did it right.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rollin and Marie, nee Cunningham, Lenz; her sister, Beverly Foote; her brother Robert Lenz.

Surviving are her brother Thomas (Karen) Lenz; her sister-in-law Pat Lenz; her nieces and nephews, Karla Foote-Smith, Becky Foote-Havener, Ken Foote, Missy Foote-Thomas, Mary Ann Lenz-Elder, Jan Lenz-Nation and Marcia Lenz-Davis; a very special friend Vic Popovsky; also by her great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's research and can be received at Sunset Hill Funeral Home.  Condolences to the family can be expressed through this online guestbook.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, IL.

Funeral:  Memorial service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Darin Elder officiating.
