Larry Dwight Crumer Sr., 63, of Maryville, Ill., born Aug. 26, 1949, in Collinsville, Ill., died at 9:06 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.

Mr. Crumer graduated from ITT in 1968. He worked for Ameren Electric and Laclede Steel and retired as a laborer from the Collinsville Union. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 365 in Collinsville, Ill. He volunteered at the Jefferson Barracks Hospital. He was an avid fisherman. He was a member of Wilkerson Chapel A.M.E. in Collinsville, Ill.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow James and Annabelle, nee Hayes, Crumer; a brother, Lonnie Ahart; and a grandson, Ethan Crumer.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara, nee Alford, Crumer, whom he married on Dec. 19, 1970; his sons, Larry (Nicole) Crumer Jr., of Edwardsville, Ill., and Kory Crumer of Collinsville, Ill.; grandchildren, Alexis, Dezmon, Camryn and Mason; sisters and brothers, Ruby Chenult of Indianapolis, Ind., Melvina Ahart of O'Fallon, Ill., Robert (Joyce) Ahart of Swansea, Ill., Stella Burns of Collinsville, Ill., Ronald (Berna) Crumer of Corona, Calif., Reginald (Renee) Crumer of Alton, Ill., and Garry (Phyllis) Crumer of Fairview Heights, Ill.; aunts, Etta Hayes of East St. Louis, Ill., Doris Crumer of Collinsville, Ill., and Molly Crumer of Collinsville, Ill.; nieces, Darlene Alford of Springfield, Mo., and Tonya Alford of Cleveland Ohio; and sister-in-law, Myrtle Ahart of Edwardsville, Ill. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
