Leah Louise
Ramatowski
Jan 29, 1959 — Feb 1, 2019
Leah Louise (Meyer) Ramatowski, age 60, of Collinsville, IL, passed away Friday morning, February 1.
Leah was born in Belleville, the daughter of Clyde and Winifred Meyer (both deceased), but was a full-fledged Collinsville girl most of her life.
Leah just had her birthday Monday, and seemed on the road to recovery after a bout of illness, when she took a sudden turn for the worse and didn't recover.
She is survived by her loving spouse of 30 years, Joseph Ramatowski, and her children Courtney and Alexander, whom she loved very much and had much pride for them.
She is survived also by a brother and his wife, Edward and Debbie Meyer, and children, and by three sisters-in-law Patricia Ramatowski, Paula (Dale) Geiger, and Polly (Derek) Keller, and nieces and nephews Gabrielle, Gage, Drake and Danica.
Leah loved her friends very much: Jackie, Jerrie, Juli, Janie, the bowling team, the Six-Pack Leslie, Vicki, Kathy, Michelle, Renee, and all.
Leah was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Schools and Church in Collinsville, IL. One of her favorite accomplishments was leading the very popular class art projects for the school's annual auction for several years.
In the 80s and 90s, Leah was a pioneering woman in the field of structural engineering computer aided drafting, working on the design of famous structures throughout St. Louis and across the country. She more recently was a kitchen designer for the very supportive Home Depot #1924 in O'Fallon. She loved her coworkers and truly loved to make her customers happy – Leah took great joy when they reported how much they appreciate their new kitchens.
Favorite activities included party planning, with exotic scavenger hunts, goofy games, and lots of decorations. Nieces and nephews received hand drawn birthday cards. The house is full of handmade ceramics and decorations. The annual trip to PCB in FL was cherished. Nobody decorated for Christmas better than Leah, with the absolute most fascinating Christmas tree in town.
Leah loved life, she loved her friends, and especially loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be made to SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville or the Metro East Humane Society. Donations may be given at the funeral home. Additional condolences may be sent to the family through this online guestbook.
