Leonard Edward "Lenny" Phipps Jr., 56, of Troy, Ill., born Nov. 13, 1955, in East St. Louis, Ill., died at 1 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at his residence after a long battle with cancer.



Mr. Phipps retired from the maintenance department at the Extended Stay America in O'Fallon, Ill. He was a member of Troy United Methodist Church and American Legion Post No. 365 in Collinsville, Ill.



Lenny loved his grandkids, traveling and camping with his family and friends.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Phipps Sr., and June, nee Ehret, Phipps.



Surviving are his wife, Kathy, nee Engle, Phipps whom he married on Feb. 16, 1980, children, Rebecca Trail of Troy, Ill., Autumn (Ricky) Collins of Edwardsville, Ill.; and Krystal (Matthew Legens) Bareiter of Collinsville, Ill.; sisters, Diana (Steve) Allen of Greenville, Ill., and Sue Leidner of Mulberry Grove, Ill.; brothers, Matthew (Mary) Phipps of Mulberry Grove, Ill., Charles (Jill) Phipps of Mulberry Grove, Ill., Paul (Michele) Phipps of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Claude (Barbara) Phipps of Greenville, Ill.; nine grandchildren; his best friend, Baby Bear; and his pets, Honey Bear and Peaches; and his cat, Moose.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Price officiating. Interment in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill.
