Obituary

Leota May Balster, 80, of Highland died on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

A private funeral services will be conducted by the Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon.

She was born on Oct. 7, 1934 in Glen Carbon to Harold and Anna (Jacobs) Piazzi. On Sept. 8, 1951, she married Donald Balster in Pocahontas, Ark. He survives. They just celebrated their 64th anniversary.

Mrs. Balster had worked as an office supply clerk, a meat wrapper, and as a grocery store checker. She also was a member of the Highland Pistol Club, Happy 40''s Softball League, and the Senior Olympics. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and her spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include children, Sherrel (Jerry) Struckhoff of Hillsboro, Ill., Sheila (Denny) Frey of Pocahontas, Colette (Eric) Horn of Collinsville, Brad Balster of Royse City, Texas, and Britt (Laura) Balster of Maryville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
