COLLINSVILLE- Linda Altenberger, 92, of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Liberty Village of Maryville.

Linda was born August 13, 1926 in Cypress, Illinois to Lawrence and Retha (nee,   Martin) Collins. She married Kenneth Altenberger on July 12, 1945 in Collinsville, IL; he preceded her in death in November 1987.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Glenna (nee, Collins) Thiel, Rollie Collins and Esco Collins.

Linda is survived by her sons, Lannie (Brenda) Altenberger of Collinsville and Don (Terri) Altenberger of Mocksville, N.C.; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Linda was a longtime member of Meadow Heights Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for several years. She worked as a homemaker, devoted to her loving family.

She was also a charter member of the Collinsville Historical Museum. Linda will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorials donations may be made to Meadow Heights Baptist Church, where Linda was a longtime member and taught Sunday school for several years. Additional condolences may also be sent to the family through this online guestbook.

VISITATION: A visitation for Linda will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, IL.

FUNERAL: A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation, at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Reverend Jim Robinson will officiate. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.
