Obituary

Loretta M. Barton, 85, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at 2:15 p.m. December 9, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Troy, Missouri. She was born on March 28, 1935 in Redford, Missouri, the daughter of John and Ruth (Vandaveer) Dement. Loretta and her husband Joy were the owners of Carol Lee Bakery in Kimberling City, Missouri for many years. Loretta loved sewing and cooking, she worked part time, during her early retirement years, as a costume maker at Silver Dollar City in Missouri, and she was the kitchen manager at Table Rock Healthcare in Kimberling City prior to her final retirement in 2011. Loretta enjoyed sewing and making clothes, quilts, and other crafts for her family. She loved The United States of America and she had a special fondness for those who served their country in the United States Military.

Loretta is survived by her two sons, Marvin (Rusty) Barton and his companion Roxanne Bethel, Jeffery (Mark) Barton and his wife Karen, two grandsons, Steven (Liz) Barton, and Matthew Barton, two granddaughters, Kara (Mark) Johnson, and Rachael (Michael) Guthrie, four step grandchildren, Timothy, and Martin Bethel, Taylor and Adam Sneed, seven great grandsons, Dreyke, Landen, Tanner, and Tyler Barton, Todd, Hayden, and Nathan Johnson, two great great granddaughters, Evelynn and Ellla Barton, her sister Kathleen Keith and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joy, her daughter Sandra, a sister Jean (Kenneth) Scott, her brothers Larry (Wanda) Dement, Louis Dement, and her brother in law William Keith.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a private visitation limited to 10 people of her immediate family, will be held December 19, 2020 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Edwardsville, Illinois. Following the service, she will be buried with her husband at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in her honor.
