Louise J. Nichols

Louise J. Nichols, 90, of Glen Carbon, IL., born August 11, 1927 in O'Fallon, IL., passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.

Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.  She taught kindergarten for 31 years for the Belleville School District 118.  As a longtime teacher of five year olds, Louise was famous for handing out #2 yellow pencils on Halloween.  Louise was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Collinsville, IL., where she was active in many programs. She was also active with  P E O and the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Nichols, whom she married August 15, 1970 and passed away December 31, 2007; her parents, George & Cecil, nee Meyers, Lienesch; her brothers, Donald Lienesch, George Lienesch.

Surviving are her children, Carolyn (Dennis) Meier of Troy, IL., John (Debbie) Nichols of Collinsville, IL., Holland E. (LaDonna) Clem of Belmont, N.C; her brother Bill (Delores) Lienesch;  her grandchildren, Catherine (Robb) Hartmann, Ryan (Autumn) Meier, Michelle (Cameron) Omlid, Michael (Emilee Cline) Nichols;  her great-grandchildren, Brandon Hartmann, Cameron Hartmann, Rohen Meier, Zane Meier, Harper Nichols;

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John United Church of Christ and can be received at the church prior to the service or at Herr Funeral Home.  Condolences to the family can be expressed through this online guestbook.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at St. John United Church of Christ, Collinsville, IL.

Funeral:  Memorial service 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at St. John United Church of Christ, Collinsville, IL., with Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Morgan officiating.
