Luther Leroy Holst, 82, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away on April 27, 2021, at Care

Center at Center Grove, Glen Carbon, Illinois.

Luther was born December 31, 1938, in Collinsville, Illinois, to John F. William and Ellen Elizabeth (Holtman) Holst.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville. His love for his Lord was prominent in his life.  During his career, he worked as an Inspector for McDonnell Douglas.  Luther loved and collected trains; he had an amazingly large collection.

Luther was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Kathlyn June Adams- Holst; son, Howard Adams; sisters:  Esther Holst, Dorothy Holst and Helen Shillito; brothers: David Holst, Fred Holst, Walter Holst, and Frank Holst.

Survivors include his wife, Rose Ann Holst of Glen Carbon, Illinois; ; daughter, Penny (David) Piotrowski of Lockport, Illinois son, Lloyd Adams of Springfield, Illinois;  step-son, Jeff (Theresa) Bergbrader of Granite City, Illinois; step-daughters: Lisa (Chad) Hoover of Edwardsville, Illinois and Judy (John) Hollmann of Branson, Missouri; grandchildren:  Ryan (Nicole) Piotrowski, Mathew Piotrowski, Amy ( Austinn McGann) Piotrowski, Austin Adams,  and Samantha Adams; great grandson, Oliver Piotrowski; as well as many step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 723 St. Louis Road, Collinsville, Illinois. Memorial service will start at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Greg Pratt officiating, under the direction of Herr Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church.
