Obituary

Manuel R. Tamayo, 74, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born April 7, 1937, in Cincinnatti, Ohio, died at 12:25 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.



Mr. Tamayo was an ordained minister with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ.) He was a member of Masonic Blue Lodge in Cincinnatti, Legion of Honor DeMoley, Knight's Templar York Rite, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Mid America Region Commission of Ministry, Gateway Area Board and a past president of North American Pacific Asian Disciples. He attended First Christian Church of Edwardsville, Ill.



Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Rupert Tamayo and Nina, nee McClanahan, Tamayo.



Surviving are his wife, Jean May, nee Rihel, Tamayo, whom he married on June 10, 1961; daughters, Chris Anne (Patrick) Collins of Collinsville, Ill., and Carmen Tamayo of St. Louis, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Danielle, Jacklyn and Phillip.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Ill.



Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at First Christian Church in Edwardsville, Ill., with the Rev. James Brooks officiating. Interment in St. John's Cemetery in Collinsville, Ill.
