Marceline Booth, born July 27, 1921, in Collinsville, Ill., died Aug. 26, 2015.
Marceline graduated from Collinsville High School in 1939. She sang in the high school chorus and played clarinet in the high school band. She was a member of the National Honor Society. After high school, she played in the Community Band.
Her first job was at Sears Roebuck in the auditing department. She remained in that job 37 years. She started in East St. Louis at the old store near the railroad tracks. She moved to the new store on 10th street and then to the new store in Fairview Heights and remained there until 1978 where she retired as auditing supervisor.
Her main interest was music. She met and married Ward C. Booth in 1958. Together they sang in the Belleville Chorale, the St. John's U.C.C. choir, Centenary Methodist Choir in St. Louis, the Chancel Choir at St. Matthew UMC in Belleville, the Community Chorale Society under Dr. Leonard Van Camp at SIU, the New Life Choir at St Matthew, and the Music Makers in Collinsville. She taught Sunday school at St. John's for 25 years was an active member in the Calico Players and was a church liturgist. She was past president of the Evening Circle at St. John's, past chairperson of Christian Women's Club in Belleville, and chairperson of the Rebekah Circle at St. Matthew. She was a member of the Christian Heirs Sunday school class, a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, and a member of the Friends of the Collinsville Historical Museum, where she also volunteered.
She and her husband traveled extensively. She liked to try new things and enjoyed many crafts, among them oil painting and stained glass. She was a collector of antique glass ware and dolls. She knitted outfits for a number of the dolls. She enjoyed life, loved her husband and family, but most of all, loved her Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ward C. Booth; her parents, William and Marcella Roellchen Fritz; and sister, Wilela Fritz Buchles Cox.
Survivors include two stepchildren, Jeanne Booth (Bill) Koch and John T. (Kerri Mead) Booth; grandson, Thomas Christopher (Sarah) Booth; two great-grandchildren, Rebecca Sue and Mackendrick Ward; and good and faithful friends, Bernice Sperino and Vrene Ketten of 70 years.

Funeral: Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
