Marcellus Obernuefemann

Marcellus L. Obernuefemann, 98, of St. Peters, MO., formerly of Caseyville, IL., born May 8, 1919, in O'Fallon, IL., passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, in St. Peters, MO.

Marcellus valiantly served during WWII in the U.S Army.  He retired from F S Service Inc.  He was a Caseyville small business owner as well a Caseyville Civic Leader.  Marcellus was a member of Caseyville VFW Post 1117 and St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Caseyville, IL.  He was a registered Boy Scout Leader.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife Florence, nee Hermeling, Obernuefemann; his parents, Louis and Clara, nee Loyet, Obernuefemann; his two brothers Louis and Leo and two sisters Edith and Marie; his granddaughter Cheryl Obernuefemann.

Surviving are his son Gary Obernuefemann of St. Peters, MO.; his grandson Christopher Obernuefemann of St. Peters, MO.; his granddaughter Elena Obernuefemann of St. Peters, MO; and sister, Bernice.

Memorial in honor of Marcellus may be made to St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Caseyville, IL., The Greater St. Louis Area Council of Boy Scouts or to the Alzheimer's Association and can be received at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, IL.  Condolences to the family can be expressed through this online guestbook.

Visitation:  Friends may visit with the family 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Herr Funeral Home.

Funeral:  Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2018, at Herr Funeral Home with Father Jim Nall officiating.  Burial will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
