Margaret "Marge" Evans Crouch, 88, of Pontoon Beach, IL passed peacefully into Heaven August 9, 2022, at Anderson Hospital with family at her side.

Margaret was born to Lawrence and Bessie (Poole) Evans on June 26, 1934, in Woodlawn, TN. She spent her childhood there before moving to East St. Louis, IL, where she found love and married James "Jumbo" Crouch on June 5, 1954. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jumbo, her beloved son, James "Jimmy" Crouch, as well as sisters Ora, Dorothy, Virginia, and Lois Evans, and brothers Morris, Howard, and Louis Evans.

At a young age, she began her career with Southwestern Bell where she trained others on Switchboard Operations until her retirement in 1984; however, this did not slow her down and later that year she joined the local YMCA and learned to swim. This became a lifelong passion and she dedicated herself to swimming laps three days a week until the start of the pandemic in 2020. Years after learning to swim, she also joined a women's weightlifting class, took tennis lessons, played golf, and learned to belly dance, but her Sundays were always spent in praise at the First United Presbyterian Church in Granite City along with her fellow parishioners.
Marge will be remembered for her impeccable style, adorning herself and her home with the best of the best, and for her love of living each day to the fullest, laughing, traveling with the many friends who loved her, sunbathing, and caring for her Chihuahuas.

She leaves behind her loving daughter, Rhonda (Randall) Lyon, granddaughters Kari (Sean) Williamson, Kelli (Brent) Clutts, and Kimberlee Doolin, great grandchildren Taylor Clutts, Alexis Clutts, Ava Clark, Allison Williamson, Hunter Clark, and Jake Williamson, her beloved Chihuahua, BJ, as well as many other loving members of her extended family.

A visitational service will be held at Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Glen Carbon, IL on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a funeral service immediately following with Pastor Darren Carstens officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Margaret Crouch.
