1939-2025
Marjorie Ann Bough of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of 85, at Cedarhurst Assisted Living in Granite City, Illinois.
Marge was born November 11, 1939, to the late Charlotte (Heckert) and Henry J. Arnold in Charleston, Illinois. Marge was the youngest of their four children. Her siblings were Mary (Don) Cahoon, Paul (Mary) Arnold, and Don (Kathy) Arnold. Don Arnold and his wife Kathy survive.
Marge was a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a BA in Home Economics in 1961. She married the late Arthur Eugene Bough on August 12, 1961, and moved to Glen Carbon in the same year. She taught Home Economics at Edwardsville Jr. High and High Schools, and at East Alton-Wood River High School. In 1985, she opened the Yum Yum Shoppe, a highly successful deli, ice cream, and baked-goods establishment in Glen Carbon, which she sold in 1996.
Marge loved cooking, sewing, crafting, and boating with Art and her family, and many friends. Her legendary Fourth-of-July events will long be remembered by her children, grandchildren, and her extended family. Boating excursions to Litchfield and Carlyle Lakes as well as vacations to Kentucky Lake, Tablerock Lake in Missouri, and Norfork Lake in Arkansas are a lasting legacy to her family and friends.
Marge is survived by her daughters Christine E. (Jason) Ovanic, and Cheryl E. (Chris) Blair and five grandchildren: Jordan A. Ovanic, Jacob A. Ovanic, Joseph A. Ovanic, Caleb J. Blair and Courtney N. Blair, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
