Marjorie I. Smith, nee Mahan, 93, of Collinsville, Ill., born Sept. 7, 1918, in Sparta, Ill., died at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.



Marjorie operated a beauty shop for many years in her home in Collinsville. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Collinsville, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Caseyville, the DAV Auxiliary Chapter Unit 24 in Belleville, and a 60 year member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Collinsville.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Dickerson Smith whom she married on June 29, 1946; her parents, Luther and Ethel, nee Braden, Mahan; and two sisters, Dorothy Mahan and Ruth Vaissiere.



Surviving are her daughter, Bonita (Larry) Krupp of Collinsville, Ill.; her son, Donald Smith of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren, Luther and Peter Krupp and Louisa (Ryan) Falline and D. Wayne Smith.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill. An Easter Star service at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.



Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at First United Presbyterian Church, Collinsville, Ill., with Rev. Dr. Lloyd Shaw officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
