Obituary

"For me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." Philippians 1:21

Mark Allen Bonebrake, 68, of Collinsville, Illinois passed away on January 4, 2022 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.

Mark was born on December 2, 1953, in East St. Louis, Illinois to Francis and Mildred (Dix) Bonebrake.

Mark was married to the love of his life, Lisa, for 49 years.  They were blessed with 4 children: Christian, Amber, Dane, and Zachary.  He had no greater joy than spending precious time with his family.  Mark adored his children and grandchildren.  He will be remembered for his devotion, silliness and deep unwavering love.  Family gatherings and yearly vacations to Coral Shores, in Florida, leave treasured memories. His infectious laughter, sense of humor and playfulness brought joy to all who knew him.

Mark was a member of the First Baptist Church in Collinsville, Illinois. He lived for the Lord and instilled these values in his family.  Although his loss is greatly mourned, there is peace in knowing he is in Glory with his Heavenly Father.

Mark worked hard all of his life to provide for his family; he worked at National Auto Supply, and in recent years retired from World Wide Technologies.  Music played an important role in his life.  He was a self-taught guitarist, avid Beatles fan, and loved Led Zeppelin.  Mark enjoyed watching and playing baseball.  He was an enthusiastic Cardinal fan and played in a local baseball league into his 40s. His uniform number 10 was a number that always represented him. Baseball was a bond he shared with his sons. Mark was a skilled photographer and, earlier in life, worked part-time taking photos for a local newspaper.  His artistic eye has left behind a lifetime of photos for the family to treasure. Later in life, Mark developed a love and appreciation for firearms.  He enjoyed shooting and learning about self-defense.  He shared this passion with his son-in-law, Ben.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Lisa (Rautenstrauch) Bonebrake of Collinsville, Illinois; Children:  Christian Bonebrake of Collinsville, Illinois, Amber (Ben) Hester of Mascoutah, Illinois, Dane (Annie) Bonebrake of Troy, Illinois, and Zachary (Miranda) Bonebrake of Collinsville, Illinois; Stepmother:  Marilyn Bonebrake of Collinsville, Illinois; Siblings:  Gary (Barbara) Bonebrake of Oneonta, New York, Bobby (Linda) Wolfe of Collinsville, Illinois, and Mary (John) Lacopo of Troy, Illinois; Grandchildren:  Isabella, Wyatt, Griffin, Max, Rex, Levi and new Baby Bonebrake due in July.

It was Mark's wish, that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to a Family Fund to assist his loved ones at this time. There is no greater way to honor Mark than caring for his family. Checks may be sent to Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville, Illinois or by clicking the link:
