Mark William French, 70, of Collinsville, passed away unexpectedly entering into eternal rest

on Sunday May 14, 2023 at HSHS Saint Elizabeth Hospital O'Fallon, Illinois.

Mark was born to Joseph and Marjorie French both who preceded him in death. Mark also was preceded in death by his father-in-law Robert (Jim) Fleming.

Mark attended schools in Topeka, Kansas, University at Wichita State, and Graduate School at John Hopkins University focusing in international studies. During Graduate school he studied abroad at the Johns Hopkins University SAIS Europe campus in Bologna, Italy. He was basically James Bond riding his jet black Ducati around the Italian countryside and traveling Europe.

Mark retired in April 2022 from Midwest Employer Casualty.  His  work over last 50 years included the US government and private insurance sectors.

Mark was a movie buff, bird watcher,

sports fan, and an avid reader especially readings of the Bible.

He valued his friendships and his greatest joy was time spent with his family and their pets Willow and Panda.

Mark was cultured with a phenomenal sense of humor, shared endless wisdom, and had a generous heart in helping others.

Mark selflessly chose to be an organ donor with MidAmerica Transplant. His courageous gift of life will help support 75 individuals and their loved ones.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Cathy.

Daughter Michele Patrick Yost and son-in-law Andrew Yost.

Daughter Bridget Lynn Patrick and her four sons who affectionately were the first to call him "Papa".

Blake Patrick, Lucas Patrick, Jackson Patrick, and Brandt Johnson.

Two great granddaughters who "Papa" adored endlessly

Brianna Nichole  Patrick and Arianna Grace Patrick.

"Papa" Mark's love will forever live in our hearts and those he touched.

Mark's wish was to be cremated with no services to be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark's memory are suggested for MidAmerica Transplant, the American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association.
