Obituary

Marty Bompezzi of Foristell, Missouri passed away peacefully on December 30th,  2024 surrounded by family.  Born in Orrick, MO, Marty was preceded in death by her parents Clifton and Eva Mae (Harris) Gaines and brother Kevin Lee Gaines. Marty is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Anthony Bompezzi, stepdaughter Lisa (Bompezzi) Trask, husband Dave Trask and grandchildren Savanna and Braden King. Stepdaughter Tracey (Bompezzi) Wunderlich, husband Mike Wunderlich and grandchildren Bryce and Natalie Wunderlich.  Marty is also survived by siblings Barbara (Gaines) Newkirk, Edwin Harold Gaines Jr and Brad Gaines along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Marty was a graduate of Orrick High School and her love for adventure led her to Breech Academy training to become a flight attendant.  During her distinguished career she was awarded the honor of flying on President Jimmy Carter's charter. Another of her memorable flight experiences landed her at the Palace of the Shah of Iran to celebrate New Years Eve!  Her career spanned more than 35 years, and she had the privilege of traveling the world.  In Marty's personal life with Tony, they moved to 7 different cities around the country and recently settled back in Missouri to be closer to friends and family.

Marty had multiple passions outside of her family and friends.  Besides rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs she was an avid skier and recently started golfing and mastering Pilates.  She loved to sing and listen to music, especially The Eagles and Billy Joel.  Cooking for everyone she loved brought her much joy and she became skilled in Italian and French cuisines.  Marty spent 5 years after retiring from the airline, working for an interior design company and had a keen eye for decorating, a talent that was showcased in the many homes that she and Tony shared across the country.  Marty also had a soft spot for animals and raised a beloved pup named Bella and 2 very spoiled cats.  Martha Sue's warmth, generosity, endless energy and humor will be terribly missed. She led a remarkable life, and her legacy will live on through all of those that had the privilege of knowing her.

Anthony and family will hold a celebration of life for Marty in the summer of 2025.
