Martha J. Lewis, nee Sullivan, 85, of Collinsville, Ill., born Monday, July 16, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., died at 1:38 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Liberty Village Nursing Home in Maryville, Ill.

Martha retired from Collinsville unit 10 school district after 20 years. She was a member of Meadow Heights Baptist Church, P. Buckley Moss Society, SIUE Alumni, Lesterville High School Alumni, and Purple Pride. She was a life time member of IEANEA. Martha and her husband were instrumental in the start up of Collinsville Khoury League.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Lewis whom she married on May 16, 1947; parents, Matthew and Lena, nee Spencer, Sullivan; and sisters and brothers, Mary Jane Schuab, Dorothy Sullivan, Matthew Edward Sullivan Jr., James S. Sullivan, Robert J. Sullivan, Dan J. Sullivan and Jo Ann Graham.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia (Fred) Dominick of Collinsville, Ill., and Pamela (Greg) Embick of Collinsville, Ill.; three sons, Edward A. (Marge) Lewis of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jeffery (Diana) Lewis of Granite City, Ill., and Thomas Lewis of Freeburg, Ill.; a sister, Elizabeth Wright of Bismarck, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., with Rev. Jim Donahue officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, Ill.
