Mary A. Mendez Komanetsky, nee Abbott, 80, of Collinsville, Ill., born Feb. 16, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., passed away at 4:11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was the owner of Mary's Beauty Nook, a homemaker and a daycare provider for many children. She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Her many interest included, gardening, yard sales, playing horseshoes and collecting antiques. She started a Bunko group with 12 of her dear friends. Mary will affectionately be remembered as "Mamer" by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alfred Mendez and William Komanetsky; and her parents, William Abbott and Agnes Edna, nee Grider, Crenshaw.
Surviving are her children, Dolores Goodwin of Collinsville, Ill., Michael (Robin) Mendez of Collinsville, Ill., Mark (Brenda) Mendez of Collinsville, Ill., Anita (Paul) Greiff of Peachtree City, Ga., and James (Monique) Mendez of Plano, Texas; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three brothers, Terry Crenshaw, Gussie Crenshaw and James Abbott.
