Mary E. Pohlman
Mary Elizabeth Pohlman, 84, of East Alton, Ill., born February 21, 1933, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., passed away Sunday, April 02, 2017, at home with her loving family at her side.
Mary was a caring and dedicated person, she loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and her home cooking was always a delight at the holidays. Mary belonged to Saint Kevin's Catholic Church, Rosewood Heights, Ill., where she was very active in the church choir, teacher's aid and helped with the cooking in the kitchen. She was a talented musician and a member of SIUE Community Chorale. Mary had a love for animals and enjoyed her daily walks to the park with her dogs Oscar and Tyson.
Surviving are her children, Jackie (Brant) Noah of Canton, Ga., Doug Pohlman of East Alton, Ill., Chris (Hannah) Pohlman of East Alton, Ill.; daughter in law, Beverly Pohlman of Glen Carbon, Ill.; her grandchildren, Sean Noah, Aaron Noah, Matt Pohlman, Amy Schollenberger, Andrew Pohlman, Molly Pohlman, Justin Pohlman, Tommy Pohlman and Dani Pohlman.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George Pohlman, whom she was married to for 51 years; sons, Mike Pohlman and Daniel Pohlman; parents, Oliver Hawkins and Stella Trombley Hawkins; brother, Jack Hawkins.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Humane Society and can be received at Sunset Hill Funeral Home. Condolences can be shared with the family through this online guestbook.
