Rev. Michael Lee Barnes, 46, of Pontoon Beach, Ill., born Jan. 7, 1969, in Madison, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at his residence.

Pastor Mike was senior pastor at Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville, Ill. He graduated and earned a master's of divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He as an avid sports fan and really enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys and Vanderbilt Football. He was a "Cheer" dad. Pastor Mike was an active member and secretary of CAMA (Collinsville Area Ministerial Alliance) and was a member and prayer group leader of the Metro East Baptist Association. He loved teaching and preaching God's Word.

He was preceded by his father, Terry Barnes on May 17, 2015.

Surviving are his wife, Michelle Lynn, nee Rainwater, Barnes, whom he married on Aug. 5, 1995; his daughter, Hannah; his mother, Pamela, nee Collett, Barnes of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a sister, Sherry Unland of Mount Juliet, Tenn., and her children, Nikki (Drew) Cochrane and David Unland; a sister, Holly (James) Hula of Richmond Hills, Ga., and their children, Victoria and Christina Hula; his mother-in-law, Norma Dyer of Mount Vernon, Ill.; brother-in-law, Paul Rainwater of Mount Vernon, Ill., and his children, Cristia Zimmerly and Sophie and Paige Rainwater; and sister-in-law, Pat (Larry) Stroup of New Mexico.

Memorials may be made to Meadow Heights Building Fund or Hannah's Education Fund.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday Oct. 11, 2015, at Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville, Ill.

Funeral: Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday Oct. 12, 2015 at the church with Pastor Jim Robinson officiating. Burial will take place at the Mount Vernon Memorial Park in Mount Vernon, Ill.
