Michael Edward Beland, 61, of Caseyville, Ill., born July 4, 1951, in East St. Louis, Ill., died at 4:58 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland, Ill.

Michael retired from Labor Local 100 after 34 years and also worked for the Village of Caseyville Street Department for eight years. He enjoyed camping and working on cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Thelma F., nee Lybarger, Beland; and his brother, William Beland.

Surviving are his wife, Paula J., nee Carson, Beland whom he married on June 20, 1992; his sons, Michael W. Beland of Chicago, Ill., Nicholas E. (Beth) Beland of Caseyville, Ill., Brian A. (Tiphani) Beland of Granite City, Ill., Joel D. (Tracey) Helton of Dewitt, Mich., Jay D. (Frannie) Helton of Jackson, Mo., and Keith D. Cook of Pontiac, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Phyllis Price of Dupo, Ill, and Cindy Tollette of Inola, Okla.

Funeral: Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Eric Hanson officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro, Ill.
