Obituary

Nancy Dianne Eckert, of Maryville, Illinois passed away Tuesday June 18th, 2024, at the age of 74. She was born to Lloyd and Henrietta (Hefner) Mitchell on September 4th, 1949, in Granite City, Illinois.

Nancy is survived by her husband Delbert Eckert, sister Carol Barr, brother Ed Mitchell, children Dianne Michelle McBride (Michael), David (Eve) Eckert, Daniel (Emily) Eckert, grandchildren, Caitlyn, Ayden, Michelle McBride, Logan, Lena, Dylan Jane, and Lucas Eckert.

In death Nancy is reunited with her parents Lloyd and Henrietta Mitchell, brothers Bill Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, Jim Mitchell, Lloyd Jr Mitchell, and sister Betty Lou Penrod.

On September 26th of 1970 Nancy married the love of her life, Delbert Eckert, at Holy Cross Church in Collinsville, Illinois, celebrating 53 years of marriage.

Nancy went back to school at the age of 48, to receive her certification for being a legal secretary. She worked for Foley & Mansfield Law Firm in Saint Louis, Missouri for over 14 years, as their Executive Legal Secretary.

Nancy was an incredible artist, being a master of many mediums. She could master every craft you could imagine; from making the kids homemade Halloween costumes, to drawing portraits of her family members there was no end to her creativity.

She also loved to use her mind and always found a fun challenge in her many puzzles. She loved playing Wordle, as well as doing Sudoku puzzles. Nancy was known to look for the hardest puzzles when she really wanted a challenge, or sometimes when she was short on time, an easy one to get done quickly.

Nancy was very involved in the lives and activities of her three children. While they were in school, she was an active member of the PTA, as well as serving as a lunch lady when Dianne and David were in school. Her love for her family only grew once she became a grandmother. Nancy absolutely adored her grandchildren, always holding them or cuddling them embracing them with her love. Nancy was also involved in the activities and events her grandchildren became a part of, she was at every event, no matter what, to show her support to her family. Nancy always wanted her family to be happy and succeed and would do anything to help.

Nancy loved her family fiercely, and was a very loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She truly will be missed by all who had the honor of loving and knowing her.
