Together Again!
Noreen S. Pistrui was born on August 29th, 1927, in Collinsville, Illinois, to the late Dale and Velda Lauth. Noreen was born into new life on September 5th, 2026, at her Fountains Assisted Living Residence in Ellisville, Missouri.
Throughout her life she enjoyed music and dance. As a child, she sang and tap danced on WEW Radio in St. Louis for Uncle Bill Durney's Kid's Club. Noreen also won first place for the Collinsville Centennial Talent contest singing "The One Rose." Noreen loved playing the piano and played the saxophone in the Collinsville High School Band. She was also a member of the St. Peter and Paul Church Choir. She particularly loved singing at the Midnight Christmas Mass. Noreen was actively involved in the grade school at St. Peter and Paul School. She was a substitute teacher and created the first library at the school as well. Additionally, she was President of the Fontbonne College Library for several years.
Noreen was a devout Catholic. She along with her husband, Bill, were members of the Confraternity organization at St. Peter and Paul Church. It is especially meaningful for Noreen to have her funeral Mass held at this church which her husband designed and built for the congregation.
Noreen loved to learn and later in life received her Associate's degree in Business from Belleville Area College. She worked at Thompson Lumber Company as well for her husband's architectural firm and the Korte Company as an Administrative Assistant. She also worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Collinsville Convention and Visitor's Center.
Noreen also loved to cook and after retiring, started her own catering business, "The Gourmet Touch." However, Noreen's favorite role in life was being a "Prayer Warrior" for her family and friends. She deeply believed in the power of prayer and spent many hours of her life in fervent prayer for others.
Noreen and Bill enjoyed spending time together at their Condominium in Marco Island, Florida. They also loved traveling in the United States and abroad, including a trip around the world.
Noreen was a devoted wife/mother/grandmother and a great grandmother to her husband of 73 and a half years and her children, grandchildren, and great grandson.
In addition to her parents, Noreen was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; grandson, Robert McAninch; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jane and Don Nevinger and John Pistrui.
Survivors include her daughters, Jan Bowser and Kristi (David) Grabe; grandchildren: Traci Schmidt, Andrew (Sydney) Grabe, Michael Grabe; and great grandson, Archer Grabe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to be made to the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, IL.
A small visitation will be held at Herr Funeral Home on Friday, September 11th, 2026, from 10:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. A Funeral Mass will follow at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Noon. A funeral procession will follow mass to St. John's Cemetery.
The family is being served by Herr Funeral Home, 501 W. Main Street, Collinsville, IL, 62234.
