Norma M. Rickert, née Pfeiffer, age 94, of Edwardsville, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 4:57 am on Monday, June 22, 2026. Born June 18, 1932, in Fort Russell Township, Illinois, Norma’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and enduring faith.
Norma was the youngest of six children and shared a unique bond with her twin sister Wilma. Together they were born to the late Clare and Ferdinand Pfeiffer, anchoring a family whose roots ran deep in tradition and togetherness. Norma cherished her role as a loving mother above all, pouring her heart into both her home and her work. She spent years in retail, demonstrating a tireless work ethic, strength, and warmth that inspired those around her. Family was always at the center of Norma’s world, especially the precious time she spent with her grandchildren and loved ones—moments she valued deeply.
Norma’s life changed forever when she met Clarence Rickert. Their love blossomed and led them to be married on September 1, 1956, in Belleville, Illinois. They had two children. Together, Norma and Clarence shared forty years of devoted marriage, building a life filled with partnership, mutual respect, and affection before Clarence’s passing in 1996.
A woman of gentle spirit and quiet joy, Norma embraced life’s pleasures—whether she was enjoying a game of bingo, pinochle, or cards, traveling in the RV, or boating in the Ozarks. These hobbies and adventures were sources of laughter and happiness, often shared with family and friends.
Norma’s deep faith guided her throughout her journey. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edwardsville, drawing strength, comfort, and community from her devotion.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Kathy and her son-in-law, Keith Schoenleber; her son, Keith and her daughter-in-law, Dana Rickert, 4 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clarence; three brothers; and two sisters.
The visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Estates, located at 50 Fountain Dr., Glen Carbon, IL 62034. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, with a graveside service following, also at Sunset Hill. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Norma's name to the American Cancer Society.
Norma will be remembered for her unwavering love, her vibrant spirit, and her commitment to her faith and family. Her legacy lives on in every heart she touched.
