Norman Davis Beals, born Dec. 21, 1939, died peacefully at home Nov. 19, 2018, after a 33 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Norman was the son of Norman Beals of Godfrey, IL., and Martha Mae "Betty" Shaw of Clayton, MO., he leaves behind his beloved wife of 43 years Paula Beals; sister Karen Alexander Biase of Guerneville, CA.; half siblings, Daryl Kaufman, David Beals, Lauren Beals all of OR., and Susan (John) Mattingly of CA.; son Galen Beals of Los Angeles, CA.; daughters, Lisa Bevineau and Sara (Tony) Hicks-Budde of Worden, IL.; grandchildren, Connor (Nino) Beals of Seattle, WA., Alexander, Tessa, Briuanna, Jewella and Estella Bevineau, Hayden Hicks and Zaeyn Budde all of Worden, IL.; nieces, Christina (Kenny) Petersen, Rebecca (Patrick) Jacobs of CA., Jill (Christopher) Mikula of PA; nephews Michael (Carole) Greenfield of MA., Jeffrey (Joy) Greenfield of KY.
Norman graduated from SIU Carbondale with Majors in English and Art. He was a guitarist who had a long career playing flamenco, jazz, rock n roll and country music in Chicago, San Francisco, New York City and the St. Louis area.
He was Mr. Mom to his kids and was a loving and patient man who fought a long valiant battle against a relentless disease, never losing his positive attitude.
In his memory, donations may be made to Michael J. Fox Organization, APDA or to First Christian Church, Edwardsville, IL. Condolences to the family may be made through this online guestbook.
Visitation: Friends may visit the family 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018, at First Christian Church, Edwardsville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral service for Norman will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at First Christian Church, Edwardsville, IL., with Pastor James Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
