Patricia Delores Aksamit was called to heaven on Friday, May 18, 2012 in Louisville, Ky., after a long illness.



Born in Cutler, Ill., on Dec. 2, 1929, she was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Eva Barwell and her sister, Glenda (Kirk) Stafford. She married her high school sweetheart, William George Aksamit in 1955 and they were married 54 years. A loving wife and mother she is survived by William, her three children, Heidi (Mark-deceased) Allen, Michele (John) Stubblefield, Partick (Deborah) Aksamit, three granddaughters, Madalyn (Matthew) Schepers, Heather Allen, Gabrielle Stubblefield, and two great grandchildren, Liam and Hadley Schepers. Patricia also had one niece Adrienne (Bernie) Haupt and two nephews, Glen Stafford and Kevin Stafford-deceased.



To say that Patricia lived for her family would be an understatement and she was so much more than a homemaker. Her goal for each person in her family was education. She studied many subjects in her lifetime, including; the piano, interior design, art history, literature and she was an accomplished writer. If she could have only mastered college algebra she would have her bachelor's degree.



Mother and Dad lived in many homes/places throughout their life together (43 moves/homes from 1955 to 2011-give or take one or two). She loved the challenge of a new city and a new home. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.



Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon, Ill.



Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home in Glen Carbon, Ill. Interment will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates Glen Carbon, Ill.
