Peggy Jean Allred, 72, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones on August 28, 2025.

Peggy was born on January 31, 1953, in East St. Louis, IL, to parents, John and Norma Jean (nee Bluemner) Ray. Straight out of high school, she answered an ad in a local newspaper for a firm, Stifel, that was looking for someone who knew shorthand and typing. That interview led to 54 wonderful years working for the brokerage and investment banking firm. Her loyalty to the company did not go unnoticed, with them recognizing her hard work and dedication in an article they published just last year.

Outside of work, Peggy could be found enjoying a St. Louis Cardinals game, embodying the passion and loyalty that "Cardinal Nation" is known so well for. She also had a keen interest in motorsports; loving the roar of engines as race cars flew by and the excitement of the checkered flags waving drivers to victory.

Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, Michael Allred; parents, John and Norma Ray; brother, John Ray; sister, Tracie Ray; brother-in-law, Ken Bales; and nephew, Zachary LeCuyer. Those left to cherish Peggy's memory are her sisters, Cathy Bales, Kim Ray, Mary Ray, and Kelly (Gary) Yovandich; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Peggy will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at noon from the chapel of Herr Funeral Home. A visitation will precede the service from 10-12. Burial will immediately follow services at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family has requested memorials be made to The Joshua Chamberlain Society in Peggy's name.
