Pete P. Sopetto, 86, of Collinsville, Ill., born August 11, 1925, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home, Edwardsville, Ill.



Mr. Sopetto was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ, the American Legion Post 365, Collinsville, Ill., and was a very active member of the Monsanto Retirees. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing the accordion. He was a World War II Navy veteran.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Katherine, nee Savant, Sopetto.



Surviving are his wife, Evelyn, nee Fix, Sopetto of Collinsville, Ill., whom he married August 19, 1950; a son, Craig (Debbie) Sopetto of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister, Margie Cook of Wentzville, Mo.; two grandchildren, Craig II and Cachet; and three great-grandchildren, Kylie, Rihanna and Chloe.



Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ, Collinsville, Ill., or to Hospice of Southern Illinois at the Relais Bonne Eau House.



Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill.



Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Herr Funeral Home, Collinsville, Ill., with the Rev. Tony Minear officiating. Burial at St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, Ill.
