Dr. Phillip M. McKinney, 70, of Edwardsville, IL., born June 7, 1947, in West Salem, IL., passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, in St. Louis, MO.
Phil was a 1971 graduate of the University of Illinois, School of Veterinary Medicine. He and Dr. Paul Myer, owned and operated the Hawthorne Animal Hospital in both Glen Carbon and Troy, IL. He practiced a vocation he loved for 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha (Marti), nee Miller, McKinney; step mother, Shirley, nee Reynolds, McKinney; and brother, Jed McKinney.
Phil is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jane, nee Lear, McKinney whom he married September 7, 1968; his father Myrle Ted McKinney of West Salem, IL.; sons Ted (Lindsay) McKinney of Edwardsville, IL., Micah McKinney of Hamel, IL.; sister, Judy (Jim) Maris of Ballwin, MO.; brothers, Ted McKinney of West Salem, IL., Craig (Connie) McKinney of West Salem, IL., Jason (Trish) McKinney of West Salem, IL.; his grandson, Nolan Phillip McKinney, and19 nieces and nephews and 24 great-nieces and nephews.
In honor of Phil''s memory, memorials may be given to the Angel Fund at Hawthorne Animal Hospital, Glen Carbon, IL., Pin Hook Cemetery Fund, West Salem, IL. or ESIC Baptist Church, Edwardsville., and can be received at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, IL.
